The government should abandon the path of violence and adopt the path of negotiations, the country needs unity, not chaos: Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan

The President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, has strongly condemned the use of force and urged an immediate shift towards negotiations to save the country from chaos. In a statement on Monday, Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair described the government’s response to the demonstration in favor of Gaza as an extremely “regrettable and unwise act.”

Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan pointed to past examples where similar issues were amicably resolved through mediation. They criticized specific actions such as raiding the homes of Tehreek-e-Labbaik leaders and arresting their family members, calling these measures “open provocation” that enemy forces could exploit.

Referencing previous discussions, he mentioned his past contacts with the late founder of TLP, Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, and later his son, Hafiz Saad Rizvi, with the aim of promoting unity. He expressed regret that his “sincere efforts were not seriously considered,” stating that the current crisis could have been avoided if seriousness had been demonstrated in a timely manner.

Zubair presented clear demands to the authorities, calling for the immediate release of all arrested TLP workers and their relatives. He also stressed the recognition of the constitutional and democratic right to peaceful protest and the immediate cessation of coercive measures.
