Fahad Ansari showcased a brilliant performance, scoring his second consecutive unbeaten century, and led Medicam Group to a decisive 26-run victory against Wing 999 in a high-scoring Group “A” match of the ongoing Wing 999 Inter-Departmental Cricket League Tournament.
In the match played on Thursday at Eid Gah Ground Korangi, Medicam Group, opting to bat first, set a huge total of 306 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 40 overs. The highlight of the innings was a magnificent unbeaten knock of 135 runs by wicket-keeper batsman Ansari, adorned with 15 fours and two sixes.
Taha Mehmood provided strong support with a blistering innings of 91, which included six fours and five sixes. Afnan Khan and Shehroz Siddiqui also made valuable contributions of 33 and 23 runs respectively. For Wing 999, Aftab Khan was the most effective bowler, taking two wickets for 56 runs.
In pursuit of the challenging target, the Wing 999 team responded strongly but was eventually bowled out for 280 in 39.2 overs, failing to reach the required target.
Raza Chandio was the top scorer for his team with a quick-fire 60, comprising four fours and five sixes. Shah Raza (47), Arif Khan (42), and Muhammad Afzal (41) provided him with strong support, while Usman Raheem scored 33 runs.
For Medicam Group, medium-pacer Asadullah Hamza delivered a devastating spell, claiming four wickets for 47 runs. Ali Butt took two wickets for 38 runs, helping his team secure its third crucial victory in the tournament.
