Three-Day SME Clusters Showcase Expo Commences in Lahore

Lahore: A three-day "Made in Pakistan-SME Cluster Showcase Expo" was inaugurated today at the Lahore Expo Center by Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production. The event, organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) under the Ministry of Industries and Production, marks the first of its kind in the country.

According to Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, the Expo's inaugural ceremony commenced at 10:00 a.m., featuring Mr. Khan as the chief guest. Other notable speakers included SMEDA CEO Nadia Jahangir Seth and representatives from the Board of Directors, alongside sponsors such as HBL, Bank Al-Habib, Pak-Suzuki, and Bank of Punjab.

The event showcased a symposium titled "SME Development in Pakistan-Challenges and Policy Solutions," chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production, Saif Anjum. Key participants included the Presidents of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as delegates from Malaysia and Azerbaijan's SME development agencies.

The second day of the Expo will focus on digital finance and fintech for micro, small, and medium enterprises, led by Mobilink Microfinance Bank. Marketing strategies will be delivered by expert Awais Bin Mehtab, followed by a panel discussion on the role of public sector agencies in SME development.

Concluding the Expo, the final day will feature a workshop on the Banana Fiber FAO Project. The event anticipates robust participation from 174 SMEs across 20 clusters, with attendees including international diplomats and representatives from Malaysia and Azerbaijan.

The Expo aims to bolster Pakistan's SME ecosystem, enhance market access, and position SME clusters as a vital component of the national economy, aligning with the development vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
