Top Cop Demands Zero Negligence on Model Jail, Sets Strict Timelines for Completion

Islamabad’s Inspector General of Police today issued a stern directive, warning that no negligence in the construction or management of the city”s new Model Jail will be tolerated, as he mandated the completion of all related arrangements within the stipulated timeframe.

The instruction came during a high-level conference chaired by IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi at the Central Police Office, where he conducted a detailed review of the administrative, security, and operational affairs of the correctional facility currently under construction.

The session was attended by senior officials including Senior Superintendent of Prisons Ali Akbar, AIG General Inayat Ali Shah, AIG Establishment Shoaib Masood, Chief Traffic Officer Hamza Humayun, and the directors for Safe City and Legal affairs.

IGP Rizvi articulated his vision for the facility, emphasizing that it must be established in accordance with international standards, featuring modern amenities and an effective security system to ensure better care of prisoners and the protection of human rights.

He further elaborated that the institution”s primary goals should be the promotion of a rehabilitative system and strict compliance with the law, adding that the Model Jail must be equipped with modern rehabilitative facilities to facilitate the social reintegration of inmates.

The focus of the gathering also extended to traffic management within the federal capital. The police chief reviewed the enforcement of traffic laws and strategies for the timely resolution of existing legal issues.

Commendation was given to the effective role of Safe City Islamabad, whose use of surveillance cameras and modern technology was praised for monitoring traffic, identifying violations, and maintaining discipline on the roads.

Clear directives were issued to all concerned officers, stressing the need for mutual coordination and an effective strategy to provide citizens with a safe, organized, and convenient travel environment.

The IGP concluded by reaffirming his resolve that the protection of citizens’ life and property, the elimination of traffic-related problems, and the supremacy of law remain the foremost priorities of the Islamabad Police.
