The Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, has issued stringent directives to senior officers to significantly enhance security measures across the federal capital, ordering an impartial enforcement of the law and the implementation of effective strategies to prevent crime.
According to a police report today, the instructions were delivered during a series of high-level meetings at the Central Police Office, chaired by the IGP and attended by senior command, including DIGs Muhammad Jawad Tariq, Malik Jameel Zafar, and Muhammad Atique Tahir, alongside other top-ranking officials.
The assembly of police leadership conducted a thorough review of the security arrangements for sensitive and important installations throughout the city. A particular focus was placed on tightening checks at all entry and exit points and escalating the use of intelligence-based operations.
In a push to modernise the force, extensive discussions were dedicated to reforming the training system, improving proficiency with modern technology, and elevating professional skills to meet contemporary law enforcement demands.
IGP Rizvi instructed all officers to streamline administrative procedures and reinforce internal discipline, stressing the need for the punctual fulfilment of all professional duties.
A strong emphasis was placed on public interaction, with the police chief directing senior officers to ensure their subordinates maintain a courteous and professional demeanour with citizens. He mandated the prompt redressal of public complaints, stating that safeguarding the lives and property of the public remains the highest priority.
The strategic meetings also covered significant upgrades to the Safe City projects, including the installation of advanced cameras, enhancements to monitoring systems, and the effective utilisation of data, while also strengthening coordination between different state institutions.
The welfare of police personnel was declared a top priority, with the IGP issuing special instructions to improve the residential and medical facilities available to officers and staff.
The IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Islamabad Capital Police to function as a modern, professional, and public-friendly force dedicated to strengthening peace, upholding the rule of law, and building public confidence in the capital.
