Pakistan’s top military commander and Egypt’s visiting Foreign Minister have underscored the urgent need for enhanced defence collaboration to effectively confront emerging regional security challenges, a military statement confirmed on Monday. The high-level meeting signals a move towards a more robust strategic partnership between the two nations.
The dialogue between Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, took place at the General Headquarters, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Discussions extensively covered the strengthening of military-to-military engagement and the expansion of joint training programs. Both officials reviewed the existing bilateral ties and explored new avenues to advance shared objectives for peace and stability in the region.
The interaction served to reaffirm the mutual commitment of both countries to deepen their long-standing defence relationship. The Egyptian diplomat conveyed warm greetings from Cairo’s leadership and expressed a strong desire to broaden cooperation with Islamabad across various sectors.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding on the importance of maintaining frequent high-level exchanges to maintain close coordination on issues of common interest and navigate the complex security landscape.
