TOBA TEK SINGH: A tree plantation campaign titled “Mera Poda Mera Toba Tek Singh” was lauched by the civil society on self-help basis here on Friday.
Noted personality Ahmed Jawad Sardar, along with local people, planted a sapling at Gushala Park to start the tree plantation drive. “The biggest source of oxygen generation is green trees which is necessary for every living thing. Trees make our environment fragrant, beautiful and pleasant. Plants also play an important role in preventing the adverse effects of climate change,” it was informed at the program.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jawad said that every individual has a responsibility in establishing a healthy society, so he or she must plant a tree as part of his share and take care of it. He further said that Deputy Commissioner Adnan Irshad Cheema is heading a special campaign to make Toba Tek Singh district green. Trees are also being planted in roadside parks and other open spaces, he added.
