Turkish lawmaker Hakan Cavusoglu slams rights violations in IIOJK

Ankara, August 04, 2020 (PPI-OT): A senior Turkish lawmaker, Hakan Cavusoglu, on Tuesday said that the systematic human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir threatened regional peace.

Hakan Cavusoglu, head of the Turkish parliament’s committee on human rights, in a statement said, “The change of constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to this systematic and massive rights violations, poses a big threat to regional peace.”

Human rights violations in the disputed region have reached “an unacceptable level”, he said. He called upon all rights defenders to make an effort to end the violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Narendra Modi-led Indian government scrapped the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 05, last year, and placed it under military siege. Ahead of the first anniversary of this illegal move, the Modi regime has imposed curfew in the occupied territory to prevent mass protests against Indian occupation.
