Two out of 21 injured Indian soldiers succumb in IOK

Srinagar, June 18, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, two out of 21 Indian soldiers injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Pulwama district succumbed at an army hospital in Srinagar, officials said, today. Soldiers Ajit Kumar and Badal Singh succumbed to their injuries at Indian army’s 92 base hospital Badamibagh, Srinagar.

As many as 21 soldiers associated with 44 Rashtriya Rifles sustained injuries, eight of them critically, in an IED blast at Aarihal in Pulwama district, yesterday. Two of the injured, later, succumbed, at an army hospital in Srinagar. Army’s Srinagar based defense Spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia in a statement confirmed death of two soldiers in the blast.

Interestingly, on Monday the spokesperson rejected that any attack was carried out on the army’s mobile patrol. In a statement he said, “A failed attempt was made to attack a mobile vehicle patrol of 44 RR with a Vehicle Based IED while the Army patrol was moving in the general area Arihal in district Pulwama today evening. Troops all safe. Few minor injuries.” However, the death of the injured soldiers exposed the army spokesman’s claim.
