LARKANA:Two separate protests were held at Jinnah Bagh here on Thursday by two individual women against the high-handedness of their husbands demanding justice.

One was made by Shabiran Khatoon Samo, resident of Old Bus Stand and another by Rukhsana Sangi, resident of Phul Road. Both the women were holding their kids in their laps and Rukhsana was crying constantly.

Shabiran said that her marriage took place seven years ago with carpenter Javed Samo and she has two kids. She alleged that her husband is calling different women to her home and she used to ask him to refrain but he always tortured her. She said three years ago he threw me out of home after beating with iron rods and electric cables since then she is passing miserable life along with minor kids. She said she made a complaint against her husband at Civil Lines police station but they got extortion and let him go and asked me to get divorce instead of resolving the matter.

Rukhsana Sangi alleged that she was married to Pervaiz Sangi 12 years ago and now she has four daughters. She said her husband is a drugs addict and is doing nothing to earn livelihood. She said my father-in-law Imdad Sangi was gunned down during a bank dacoity firing incident few years back and home expenses are met out of his pension amount. She said today my husband alleged that I have stolen Rs1000 hence he started torturing me mercilessly due to which she has come here to seek justice as police have done nothing despite written complaint.

Both the protesting women urged higher government authorities and non-governmental organizations to take notice and provide them justice. It must be mentioned here that social evils and disputes over petty issues are constantly rising in and around Larkana but there seems nobody to extend helping hands and resolve their sufferings amicably.
