Two young children of the Brohi community have died of measles near the railway crossing in Ward No. 6 of Thari Mirwah taluka in Khairpur district, over which their families have protested strongly. Another child is in critical condition.
The protesters told the media that Altaf’s two-year-old son Milan and Inayat’s infant son died from the disease. They said they had treated the children at Taluka Hospital Thari Mirwah but they were not properly cared for. Talib’s two-year-old daughter Humaira is also suffering from the same disease.
The protesting women demanded that the Sindh Health Department take immediate steps to protect children affected by such serious diseases. However, a representative of Taluka Hospital Thari Mirwah has claimed that no deaths have occurred due to measles.
