The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore’s Academic Council convened for its 236th meeting today, resulting in the approval of 14 new BS and PhD programs. Chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, the session marked a strategic expansion in the university’s educational offerings.
Dr. Shahid Munir highlighted the alignment of the new programs with current industrial demands and advancements. He emphasized that these additions would equip students with specialized knowledge and practical skills tailored to emerging fields. Notably, the council endorsed the creation of a BS Islamic Studies in Computer Technology and BS English Language and Literature under the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Humanities, and Islamic Studies.
Further approvals included the establishment of a Department of Mathematics and a BS Mathematics program at the UET Faisalabad Campus. PhD programs in Data Science, Environmental Science, and Physical Therapy also received the green light. Additional BS programs in areas such as Business Data Analytics, Food Science, and Artificial Intelligence were sanctioned, alongside MSc programs in Climate Change and Material Science. Adjustments were also made to undergraduate admission seats for Spring 2025, including a mechanism for integrating students with a two-year associate degree into the four-year degree program.
