UN asked to send fact-finding mission to Kashmir

Srinagar, June 19, 2018 (PPI-OT): Welcoming the recent report released by UNHRC which exposes grave human rights’ violations by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Muslim Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Dar has said that the report manifests the realization of the fluid situation prevailing in the territory.

Shabbir Ahmad Dar in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the report had exposed the hollow claims of India to be a big democracy in the world. “The world must now rise above the occasion and send a fact finding mission to get first hand information of Kashmir,” he said and asked the international community to persuade India to honour its commitments to the people of Kashmir by ensuring the smooth implementation of the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Dukhtaran-e-Millat in its statement urged the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to take concrete measures for the final resolution of the Kashmir dispute. “This report exposes India at the international level and clearly states that India has illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and was committing grave rights violations to continue its illegal occupation,” it said.

“We also appeal to the United Nation to take concrete measures and work seriously for giving the people of Kashmir their right to determine their own future as promised to the Kashmiris through a number of resolutions passed by the world body,” the DeM said.
