Srinagar, July 02, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the General Secretary of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Ghulam Nabi Sumji has expressed grave concern over the heavy deployment of the Indian army, paramilitary forces and police force in the densely populated areas of the territory.
Sumji in a statement issued in Srinagar said that political leaders and activists were subjected to humiliation, third degree torture and inhuman treatment during nocturnal raids by the Indian army and police personnel. He demanded of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights to prevail upon India to shun human rights abuses in Kashmir.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said the way political dissent is being crushed with military might speaks volumes about the callous attitude of Indian colonial mindset against the Kashmiri people. The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, addressing a party meeting in Sopore said that India was carrying out the genocide of Kashmiri people in a systematic way.
Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Islamabad town to commemorate the first death anniversary of freedom activist Bashir Ahmad Wani. He was martyred by the Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Dialgam area of the district on 1st of July, last year. Loudspeakers in mosques were blaring with pro-freedom songs in his native Soaf Shali village in Kokernag. The entire village was decorated with Pakistani flags.
A delegation of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir participated in a protest march, which was held at Eidgah in Srinagar, to demand the mortal remains of a local youth, Mudasir Ahmad Butt, who was martyred by the Indian troops in Kupwara district, recently. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in their separate statement asked the authorities to return the body of Mudassar Butt to his family.
Resistance leaders including Abdul Ahad Parra, Zahoor Ahmad Butt and Ghulam Nabi War visited the residence of martyr, Sajjad Ahmad Shah, at Chagula in Handwara, today. Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza visited the residence of a teenage martyr, Faizan Ahmad, at Ladoo in Pampore and expressed Solidarity with his family.
On the other hand, US-based filmmaker Jamie DeWolf and his partner Iara Mandy, who visited Jammu and Kashmir in disguise of tourists, have revealed that they secretly filmed dozens of interviews with torture victims of India in occupied Kashmir. The duo in a statement posted on social networking site Facebook described Kashmir as the most militarized zone in the world with one soldier for every seven citizens and guns everywhere.
