Karachi: Unilever Pakistan Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF), aiming to improve employment opportunities for the Deaf community through a comprehensive program that includes recruitment, training, and workplace integration.
According to Unilever Pakistan Limited, this collaboration leverages the Deaf Reach network of FESF to assist in hiring Deaf candidates for Unilever's salesforce and extended value chain. The initiative is designed to develop a more inclusive hiring process while equipping both employees and employers with necessary tools for effective workplace communication.
FESF will provide Pakistan Sign Language interpretation during the recruitment process to ensure accessibility and will conduct at least two structured training sessions for Unilever staff to facilitate basic communication with Deaf employees. Additionally, the program will include Deaf awareness and sensitization sessions for Unilever employees, focusing on Deaf culture and communication practices in line with the company's equity, diversity, and inclusion agenda.
Munir Hasan, Country Head of Customer Development at Unilever Pakistan, emphasized the belief in making opportunities accessible to all, stating that the partnership opens doors for the Deaf community and shapes workplaces to enable individual contribution and success.
Richard Geary, Founder and Director of FESF, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the collaboration's role in providing dignified employment for Deaf individuals and supporting organizations in becoming more inclusive. Unilever Pakistan's continued commitment to diversity and inclusion aims to create supportive environments where individuals from all backgrounds can succeed.
