The University of Turbat (UoT) informed today that it has secured approval from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to introduce two new graduate-level programs, set to commence from the spring 2026 academic session. The decision expands the institution”s advanced degree offerings in key social science disciplines.

According to notifications issued by the HEC’s Quality Assurance Division last month, the institution is now authorized to launch a Master of Science (MS) in Economics and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Political Science.

A university spokesperson relayed that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, and the wider university community commended the leadership and faculty for this significant accomplishment. Recognition was extended to Dr. Adeel Ahmed and Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hakeem, the respective deans of the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Social Sciences. The efforts of department chairpersons Dr. Mohammad Yaqoob and Mr. Changiz Ahmed, along with Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), and faculty members were also lauded.

Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan stated that the new approvals are a testament to the university”s strategy of expanding its postgraduate and research activities while maintaining high-quality standards. He affirmed the institution”s dedication to adhering to the HEC Graduate Education Policy 2023 and associated guidelines to ensure academic and research excellence.

The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the newly sanctioned programs are expected to foster a culture of research-driven learning. He noted their vital role in producing skilled researchers equipped to analyze and address Pakistan”s contemporary economic and political challenges, aligning the university”s research focus with national socio-economic priorities.

The spokesperson further detailed that with these additions, the University of Turbat will offer over thirteen graduate programs, including MBA, MS/MPhil, and PhD degrees across various fields. The institution also provides more than fifty undergraduate programs, such as BS, AD, and post-AD options, alongside several self-finance schemes. The curriculum for these programs is designed to incorporate modern technology, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurial skills to meet current and future job market demands.
