A student-led showcase at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) critically examined the scope of positive psychology, culminating in a debate on whether the discipline fully encompasses the complexity of human emotional experience.
According to a statement by the university today, the event, titled ‘Beacon of Positivity: Psychology Showcase on Hope and Wellbeing,’ was organized by BS Psychology students at the university’s Department of Psychology.
The program featured multiple segments, including a thematic drama, ‘Tute Aine Chupi Roshni,’ designed to illustrate core principles of positive psychology. A central discussion also focused on the importance of resilience in achieving success and personal wellness.
Under the supervision of faculty members Dr. Nazia Iqbal and Ms. Adila Majeed, the proceedings began with traditional Tilawat and Naat recitations before moving to its academic agenda.
Attending guests, including Dr. Nazia, Ms. Maryam, Dr. Amna, and Ms. Hafsa, commended the students’ efforts. They remarked that such academic and co-curricular activities contribute to a deeper understanding of psychological theories and help promote a culture of wellbeing on campus.
The initiative is part of the university’s commitment to holistic learning, an approach emphasized by IIUI President Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, which supports programs that foster student engagement, emotional resilience, and academic enrichment.
