University Team Ignites Youth Curiosity with Over 26 Interactive Science Demonstrations

A team from Punjab University’s Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering captivated attendees at the Lahore Science Mela 2025 with an extensive series of hands-on scientific displays, aiming to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications for a young audience.

According to PU information today, the student group, representing the Faculty of Chemical and Materials, took part in the “ChemStudio” segment held at the event”s Surpriseum.

Under the mentorship of IMME Assistant Professor Dr. Ameeq Farooq, the university representatives presented more than 26 interactive exhibits that highlighted innovations in chemistry, materials science, and engineering.

Each demonstration was crafted to foster curiosity through direct experience, scientific explanations, and creative experiments. The displays ranged from popular visual experiments like “Fake Blood” and “Chemical Garden” to technical presentations on copper and zinc electroplating, electrochemical cells, non-Newtonian fluids, and fingerprint identification.

The Mela brought together a diverse group of scientists, students, and educators, creating a collaborative environment to explore and celebrate scientific discovery.

Following the event, Dr. Farooq expressed his gratitude to the Khwarizmi Science Society”s Secretary, Dr. Sabieh Anwar Siddiqui, and Joint Secretary, Dr. Muhammad Mustafa, as well as the Surpriseum in-charge, Tayyab Iftikhar Sherazi, for providing the team with the opportunity to participate.
