Use of brute force on Muharram processions in IIOJK denounced

Islamabad, August 31, 2020 (PPI-OT): Hurriyat leader and Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement Vice Chairman Abdul Majeed Mir, has strongly condemned the brutal use of force by Indian troops on Muharram processions in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Abdul Majeed Mir in a statement issued in Islamabad said that Indian troops fired bullets and pellets on processions injuring many. The Hurriyat leader said that on Aashoora, India locked the Imambargahs in different parts of occupied territory and restricted people to their houses.

Abdul Majeed Mir said that India is constantly violating the basic human rights of Kashmiris while the international community has maintained a criminal silence on Indian crimes. He also condemned raids and mass arrests of youth in Kashmir and called on the United Nations to increase pressure on India to stop human rights abuses in the territory.

Meanwhile, APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Pervez Ahmad Shah in a statement said the brutal use of force by Indian troops on mourners in Budgam and Srinagar and the arrest of a large number of mourners is blatant interference in religion matters. He demanded immediate release of the arrested persons.

Expressing grave concern over the killing of unarmed Kashmiris by Indian forces in the occupied territory, he said that Indian troops had set up five categories to kill Kashmiri youth which include: A-plus plus, A-plus, A-category, B-category, and C-category. He said that following the Israeli policy, Indian forces arrest innocent Kashmiri youth and martyr them in fake encounters.
