UMERKOT: Locals of village Badal Nohri held a protest demonstration outside local press club against Pithoro police on Wednesday.
While talking to media on this occasion, locals said that police were not taking action against the people who injured their women at the behest of influential people.
Residents of village Badal Nohri, Mohammad Rafiq Nohri, Hassan Nohri, Qazi Nohri and others during the demonstration at Press Club Umerkot, said that influential people were threatening to kill them with serious consequences. They said the police were not taking action against influential people. They accused that Manzoor Nohri, Ibrahim Nohri, Sohbat Nohri and others attacked their houses and women with axes.
They further said that this attack was reported to Pithoro police on time but they had neither arrested the culprits nor took any action against the attackers, adding the report had also been registered at Pithoro police station.
Despite the request, the FIR could still not be lodged, they said. The villagers alleged that the influential people had support of politicians. The locals told the media that they had also lodged complaints to the higher authorities and the Superintendent of Police, Umerkot, but on the contrary, they were being threatened. “Our life and properties are under threat. We want justice and justice will be done when the culprits are arrested,” they concluded.
