KARACHI: Administrator Karachi, Sindh government’s Spokesman and CM Advisor on Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Tuesday said that the hindrance in the construction work due to the rains would be removed as soon as possible.

“Strategy has been devised for timely completion of development projects across the city. Construction of boxing ring and pavilion at Kakri Ground will be completed and opened by September 15.

According to the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, works are being done at all levels to restore and upgrade the civic facilities,” the Administrator expressed these views while reviewing the ongoing development schemes in Lyari and the reconstruction of rain-damaged roads in New West Wharf and adjoining areas.

On the occasion, office bearers of PPP Khalil Hoot, Shakeel Chaudhry, Waqas Shaukat and others were also present. The Administrator Karachi reviewed the ongoing construction of sports complex in Kakri Ground which is being constructed under the Karachi Neighborhood Improvement Program. He also inspected the Allah Rakha Park in Kharadar and directed to improve it further.

He said that development works will continue despite the rains and the infrastructure of the affected roads in various areas of South District including Lyari will be improved by speedy work. “Saving citizens from hardships in daily life and improving the quality of civic amenities is the top priority of the provincial government,” he added.

Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that Lyari is a home to a large number of fans of football, boxing and other sports. The Administrator said that to attract the youth towards healthy activities, it is necessary not only to construct new sports grounds but also to expand the already available sports grounds.

He said that construction work of boxing ring and pavilion is being done in Kakri ground and after completion, a large number of fans will be able to enjoy boxing matches here. The Administrator said that budding boxers will also be facilitated to hone their skills and prepare themselves for higher level competitions.

He said that Allah Rakha Park in the old area of Karachi like Kharadar is a source of recreation for the residents of the area. “Efforts are being made to equip the parks with modern facilities so that people of all ages can come and spend a pleasant time here,” Barrister Murtaza Wahab said.

He added that the reconstruction of the roads affected by the recent rains in New West Wharf Road and adjacent areas is going on, which will facilitate the movement of the citizens. He said that the purpose of setting up relief camps in Lyari and other areas for flood victims in Sindh is to help our brothers and sisters in the difficult time.

He said that in the relief work, the entire leadership of PPP including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister is in the field. “We will not leave our countrymen alone and will do whatever possible for their rehabilitation,” the Administrator said.
