A westerly wave is currently impacting the upper parts of the country, bringing cloudy weather with intermittent rain and thunderstorms, which may include isolated hailstorms.
This weather pattern is anticipated to persist for the next 18 to 24 hours, according to the latest reports from the National Weather Forecast Center in Islamabad on Friday evening.
In the past 24 hours, dry conditions prevailed across much of the country, though isolated rain-windstorms were recorded in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and southern Punjab.
Specific rainfall measurements include 15 mm in Dir and 10 mm in Pattan, with lesser amounts in other regions.
Looking ahead, hot and dry weather is expected in most areas, with rain and thunderstorms likely in regions such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar, Islamabad, Northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The meteorological department has also forecasted hot and dry conditions in Balochistan and Sindh, while certain areas in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience thunderstorms.
Today’s peak temperatures were recorded at 45°C in Dadu and Shaheed Benazirabad, with slightly lower but still high temperatures in other regions. The current weather system is expected to bring temporary relief to some areas, although the overall hot and dry conditions will persist in many parts of the country.
