Thanks to a magnificent unbeaten innings of 94 runs by Syed Abdullah Rifahi, YJ Sports defeated Pakistan Stallions by four wickets in a thrilling match of the Wing 999 Inter-Departmental Cricket League Tournament on Saturday.
In the match played at the CAA Stadium, YJ Sports successfully chased the target of 218 runs, scoring 219 for the loss of 6 wickets in 39 overs. Rifahi’s match-winning innings included eight fours and three sixes. Ibad Khan ably supported him with a valuable innings of 55 runs with the help of seven fours, while Mohammad Ahad Ali added 19 runs. For the Stallions, Ahsan Tareen was the most successful bowler, taking two wickets for 49 runs.
Earlier, after deciding to bat first, the Pakistan Stallions team was all out for 217 runs in 39.4 overs. Mohammad Hussain was the top scorer with 64 runs, his innings included seven fours and one six. Abdul Rehman Niazi also scored a fine half-century of 52 runs with the help of four fours and two sixes. Zaid Umar and Asad Ashraf scored 34 and 19 runs respectively.
For YJ Sports, Mohammad Ahad showed brilliant bowling and took three wickets for 28 runs.
The tournament is being organized by the Regional Cricket Association Karachi in collaboration with Wing 999 Sports.
According to the schedule, two matches will be played on Monday, January 5. Wing 999 will face Mesol Solar at Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground, and Omar Associates will face Epiform at Gulberg Gymkhana.
On Tuesday, January 6, there will be three matches. Medi-Kim Group will face Fay International at CAA Stadium, Pakistan Stallions will face Pak-Saudi International at Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground, and YJ Sports will face The Cattle Farm at Eidgah Ground, Korangi.
Wednesday’s schedule includes three more matches: Sindh Police vs. Saudi Titans at Gulberg Gymkhana, Wing 999 vs. Custom Academy at Aga Khan Gymkhana, and Epiform vs. One Ten Communication at CAA Stadium.
Two matches are scheduled for Thursday, January 8. Omar Associates will face Pakistan Stallions at KCCA Stadium, while YJ Sports will clash with Pak-Saudi International at Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground.
The week will conclude on Friday, January 9, with the only match to be played between Medi-Kim Group and Saudi Titans at CAA Stadium.
