Women’s role in peace building being acknowledged globally: Ahsan

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said women play a pivotal role in the fight against extremism.

Addressing the launching ceremony of “Dukhtaran-e-Pakistan Training Manual” here at International Islamic University in Islamabad on Monday, he said today world is acknowledging role of women in peace building in a society.

The Minister said Pakistan has paid a huge cost of terrorism. He said our nation, armed forces, police and law enforcement agencies rendered huge sacrifices to curb the menace of terrorism.

Ahsan Iqbal called for accepting pluralism in the society to promote co-existence. He stressed on inculcating the spirit of tolerance.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Chairperson National Commission on the Status of Women Nilofar Bakhtiar said women are half of the country’s population and can play an important role in development and progress. She urged the participants to play their part in curbing the violence from society.
