Brussels, March 09, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of Kashmir Council European Union (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, has appealed to the international community to put pressure on India to stop human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Brussels in connection with the International Women’s Day said that the women of occupied Kashmir were facing Indian brutalities every day. He said thousands of Kashmiri women have lost their sons, husbands, brothers and fathers in the ongoing liberation movement.
He urged the European Union to use its good offices and help punish the Indian men in uniform involved in the mass rape of Kunanposhpora and the culprits who kidnapped, raped and killed eight-year-old girl, Asifa Bano, in Kathua last year. He reiterated his resolve to continue raise his voice at the European Union against the human rights abuses by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.
It may be mentioned that Indian troops had gang-raped around a hundred women on the night of 23rd February in 1991 during a siege and search operation in Kunanposhpora area of Kupwara district. Ali Raza Syed urged the international community especially the big powers to help stop Indian brutalities in the occupied territory and giving the Kashmiris their birth right to self-determination guaranteed to them by the United Nations.
