QUETTA:Boycott of young doctors and paramedical staff continued on Monday for the fourth consecutive day, creating thereby severe hardships for the patients and their attendants.

According to reports, boycott of young doctors and paramedics from the active services continued for the fourth consecutive day while on the other hand provincial government decided to take strict disciplinary action against protesting doctors and paramedics. Due to the strike announced by Young Doctors Association (YDA) and Paramedical Staff Association, doctors and paramedics remained absent from emergency services of Sandeman Provincial Hospital, Quetta, Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta and other healthcare facilities, creating thereby severe hardships for the patients and their attendants. Provincial government on the other hand decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against absent doctors and paramedics under the Balochistan Employees’ Efficiency and Discipline Act, 2011.

Moreover, Director General, Health Services, Balochistan, Dr. Qazi Noor accompanied by Medical Superintendent, Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta, Sultan Ahmed Lehri, Deputy MS, Dr. Abdul Rashid Jamali and Abdul Salam Zehri, President, Balochistan Paramedical Staff Association, Abdul Salam took a round of different departments and wards after opening of Emergency Centre and OPD in Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta.
