The tragic death of a young man due to a snake bite and the unavailability of antivenom at the local government hospital has sparked anger and demands for accountability.
Habibullah, a 25-year-old resident of Ahmed Halipota village, fell victim to a snake bite today and was taken to the government hospital in Tando Allahyar. However, the health facility lacked the crucial antivenom injection. Consequently, Habibullah was advised to go to Indus Hospital Badin for treatment but unfortunately passed away on the way.
The incident has faced severe criticism from local political and social activists towards the Sindh Health Department. These critics point out that despite significant budget allocations to hospitals every year, the department fails to supply essential medical equipment, resulting in preventable deaths from snake bites and stray dog attacks.
The community is demanding an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident. There are growing calls for reforms in the health system to prevent such tragedies from occurring again and to turn budget allocations into tangible improvements in medical care.
This situation highlights the urgent need for better oversight and accountability within the Sindh Health Department, as public trust in the health system continues to wane.
