Boy killed, other injured in armed clash

Shikarpur:A minor boy was killed while one other person received serious bullet injured in an armed clash between two rival groups of Qambrani and Marfani communities near Sultankot within the limits of Jahan Wah police station on Saturday.

According to rescue sources, the clash took place between two communities of Qambrani and Marfani at Drighpur area near Sultankot. They attacked each other. As a result of heavy exchange of fires, one minor boy identified as Shahzado, aged 13, son of Abdul Latif Marfani, was killed on the spot while Muhammad Khan Qambrani received serious bullet injuries.

The area police rushed to the spot and controlled the tense situation while making temporary police picket in the locality. The body was shifted to RBUT Civil Hospital, where it was handed over to his heirs after completing medical legal formalities including a postmortem examination from there. No FIR was registered till late evening.

7000 policemen to perform security duty for BB’s death anniversary

LARKANA:Foolproof security arrangements have been made on the eve of the 13th death anniversary of slain PPP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bux after invitations extended to PDM leadership.

Over 7000 police officers and constables have been assigned to provide proper security to the participating leaders and incoming activists. The security staff include 28 SPs, 76 ASPs/DSPs, 92 Inspectors, 290 Sub-Inspectors, 520 Assistant Sub-Inspectors and 5429 constables.

Officials of Special Branch, RRF Commandos, Rangers personnel will be deployed on the occasion and over 60 walkthrough gates will also be installed and every participant will have to pass through these gates.

It has also been learnt that this time seven gates will be opened instead of three which were used to be opened in the past and everyone will be physically checked. Lady cops will also be working side by side with their male counterparts. Disposal squads, jammers and scanners will also be used for proper security. Over 25 CCTV cameras have also been installed to monitor the entire security situation from inside and outside the Bhutto mausoleum for which a cell has also been established.

Bomb blast kills two, leaves seven injured in Panjgur

PANJGUR:A bomb explosion in Panjgur on Saturday took the lives of two persons and caused injuries to seven others.

According to police, the bomb went off near football stadium in Panjgur area of the province after football match was played between two school teams. As a result, two persons were killed and seven others sustained injuries.

The bodies and injured were shifted to a local hospital for fulfilment of necessary medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively. Security forces cordoned off the area after the blast and started search operation. Two vehicles were destroyed in the blast.

Father kills two sons in Chaman

CHAMAN:Irate father shot dead his two young sons at Hindu Suz chowk area of Chaman city on Saturday.

According to rescue sources, Lalai, the father, opened fire on his two sons Muhammad Shafique, 17, and Muhammad Sharif,15, killing them on the spot at Hindu Suz chowk area of Chaman, bordering city with Afghanistan.

The accused managed to escape soon after committing the crime. The bodies were shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Chaman and later handed over to the heirs after fulfilling necessary medico-legal formalities. It is worth mentioning that Lalai had also shot dead his elder brother 10 years ago.

Levies Force recovers drugs in operation

NUSHKI:Levies Force Nushki Saturday claimed to have seized drugs in an operation at Union Council Mul area of Nushki.

Addressing a press conference at Levies Headquarters Nushki, Tehsildar Nushki, Imtiaz Baloch, said that following the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Nushki, Captain (Retd) Jameel Ahmed Baloch, a team of Levies Force Nushki recovered 25 kg opium, one kg heroin and one kg crystal drug from a vehicle at Sura Landi area of Union Council Mul after chasing a suspicious vehicle.

However, driver of the vehicle managed to escape under the cover of darkness. The Deputy Commissioner said that the previous day, betel nuts and non-customs paid gears were seized and handed over to customs authorities for taking further necessary action.

He said district administration was taking concrete steps to curb smuggling in pursuance of the directives of Deputy Commissioner, Nushki, Captain (Retd) Jameel Ahmed Baloch.

Plea to transfer control of forests to dist Harnai

HARNAI:Tribal elders of district Harnai have demanded of the authorities that the administrative control of the forests of Sharug area be handed over to district Harnai instead of district Ziarat.

Addressing a press conference at Press Club Harnai here on Saturday, the tribal elders of Hanai Haji Abdullah Khan, Malik Abdul Zahir Tareen and Haji Zareef Khan Tareen said that officials of Forest Department, District Ziarat, were unable to preserve forests of Shahrug area.

Expressing a grave concern over growing deforestation, they said that there was no visible stakeholder responsible for the preservation of forests of Sharug area of the province.

They called on the authorities of provincial government, particularly Secretary Forest and Wildlife, Government of Balochistan that the administrative control of the forests of Sharug area be handed over to district Harnai instead of district Ziarat so that the forests could effectively be preserved.

Wali Muhammad Malazai, Abdul Rasheed Mian, Mufti Zahid Shah, Haji Miru Aka, Muhammad Hayat Tareen, Tayub Shah, Muhammad Zaman Tareen, Atta Muhammad, Syed Noor Nabi Shah, Nasir Shah and others were also present on the occasion.

Boy killed in traffic accident near Shikarpur

Shikarpur:A minor boy was killed in a traffic accident on Naushahro Abro Link Road within the limits of Garhiyaseen police station on Thursday.

According to rescue sources, a minor boy identified as Asif Ali Khakhrani, aged 10, was grazing cattle at village New Khakhrani village near Naushahro Abro, when a speeding tractor-trolley hit him on the road and he came under the grip of tyres and was crushed to death.

The area police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to a nearby hospital for medical legal formalities. The tractor driver escaped from the scene while leaving his tractor trolley on the road.

The body was handed over to his heirs after conducting of a postmortem examination from RHC Garhiyaseen. The police have impounded the tractor-trolley and started a search for the escaping driver. No FIR was registered till late evening.
