UKPCCI to invest UK Pound 200 million in Pakistan’s IT and TOURISM sectors

Lahore, April 15, 2019 (PPI-OT): An 11-member delegation of UK Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry commercial council and HTL (UKPCCI) led by Sr. Vice President UKPCCI Syed Asad Hussain expressed keen interest in all IT interventions of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and indicated their prime interest to tap into young workforce, and explore their talents and strengths by focusing IT and tourism being main priorities for economic growth in Pakistan through an investment of UK Pound 200 million to IT, Tourism and other promising sectors of Pakistan.

It was disclosed by the leader of the delegation during a meeting with the Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor here today who informed that the PITB was determined to make Punjab the top e-governed, IT enabled province, and a preferred destination for global IT businesses, as well as a major supplier of skilled human resource of IT in Pakistan. A MoU was also signed between PITB and HTL for collaborative ICT interventions and growth of the digital eco system in Pakistan.

The visiting delegation was briefed about the scope of PITB interventions and they were apprised that 65% of the population in Punjab is below 25 years of age, and they could be of great potential if trained in the right skillset. Presently, PITB provides consultation and physical support to 40 different departments of government of the Punjab in terms of process automation and launching new IT initiatives.

The delegation was further informed that four major areas including the formation and implementation of IT policies and framework, providing IT infrastructure and enhancing productivity, enabling good governance and finally facilitating ease of doing business and improving delivery of public services were being focused.

The delegation appreciated PITB’s strategy based on supporting the industry, promoting entrepreneurship and job creation, digitization, e-governance and improving service delivery of citizen centric services. The Chairman PITB also gave an overview of PITB’s entrepreneurial ventures including Plan 9, Tech Hub Connect, e-Rozgaar, Herself and Plan X.

PITB-SKMCH-PESSI MoU Signing for HIMS

Lahore, April 08, 2019 (PPI-OT): In order to ensure Public Service Delivery efficient and accessible to grass root level in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan, health and education are the most important sectors to bring reforms through Information Technology interventions.

Ansar Majeed Khan Niazi Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Rights said while addressing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony among Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) and RC and PESSI here today. The MoU was signed by the Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor, CEO Shaukat Khanum Dr. Faisal Sultan and Commissioner Punjab Employees Social Security Institution Saqib Manan.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor said that MOU among SKMT, PITB and PESSI was a great opportunity for the extension of improved facilities for patients in social security hospitals. SKMT has provided a tried and tested hospital information management system which was in use for more than 20 years. This system has been provided free of cost and we are indebted to the organization, he added.

Saqib Manan Commissioner PESSI informed that the World Bank introduced a very important project Ease of Doing Business in Pakistan that required digitization of all the contributions of PESSI. With the help of PITB, PESSI has completed and achieved all the tasks given by World Bank. He thanked the Chairman PITB and his team for all the assistance they have provided to keep the flow of work.

He further stated that through labor policy, PESSI and Labor department were being digitized and World Bank’s project Ease of Doing Business would ensure online services to PESSI. This MoU is of great importance in order to bring about reforms in labor policy, he added.

The CEO Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital Dr. Faisal Sultan explained that medical care has become very complex and it should be taken care through a safe and secure system. Our information management system has an efficient procedure in place that fulfils the criteria of medical care safety and quality. The information management system of SKMT is a home grown system designed for optimum medical care ensuring safety of patients and their data. While designing this system, SKCH ensured that the product was extendable to other organizations, he concluded.

Plan9 Technology Incubator Opens ‘Launchpad’ Cycle 13 Startups

Lahore, April 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): Plan9 a project of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has opened its flagship event ‘Launchpad’ here today, which will conclude on April 7, Sunday. The event includes selection ofstartups to be incubated at PITB’s Plan9. This ground-breaking event will be replicated in five cities; Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Multan.

This time theme of the event is ‘empowered edge’. Technology has mostly taken over our lives and it has empowered us in many ways be it transport, communication, advertisement, business, shopping, and much more. It has given an edge over ancestors to do everything better and faster. Plan9 has received 400 applications from nationwide and out of them 140 startups were selected for Lahore Chapter.

First day of Launchpad is ‘Expo Day’ which is all about experiencing innovation, technology, business displays, motivational talks, startup stories, food, music and much more all in one jam packed day, along with networking and socializing opportunities with the right and relevant people of the entrepreneurial industry.

The second day will be a full day of workshops and trainings to prep the startups for elevator pitch round. On third day, judging of elevator pitches will take place and 20 startups out of which finalists will be selected. Last day is all about judging the final presentations and choosing the 10 startups to be incubated at Plan9 for the upcoming 6 months. The event is organized twice a year.

It will be an event attended by professionals from the tech industry, bloggers, media-personnel, and entrepreneurs.

LCWU, PITB to organise an event regarding implementation of digital content for intermediate; Dr Atta Ur Rehman will be the chief guest

Lahore, February 18, 2019 (PPI-OT): Lahore College for Women Universit (LCWU) in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) is holding an event on 19th February 2019 at 9 am in the LCWU Campus regarding the Implementation of Digital Content for Intermediate (Science and Maths). Dr. Atta Ur Rehman, head Prime Minister’s Task Force on IT and Telecom will be the chief guest. The event is part of the series held earlier at LCWU in reference to eLearn Project of PITB.

Keeping in view the IT vision of Government of Punjab and a practical step towards a knowledge economy, eLearn Punjab is a project of PITB which has developed digital content for (Grade 4-12) available free on the website: https://elearn.punjab.gov.pk/ while eLearn App is also available on Google Play store.

There are 29 Science and Maths textbooks of PCTB related to Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Maths digitized on priority basis. Digital Content means textbook of PCTB augmented with Videos, Animations, Simulations, Audios, and Assessments. The Secretary Higher Education Department Government of Punjab and Azfar Manzoor, Chairman, PITB will also present on this occasion.

PITB Remodels Health Complaint Management System into Emergency Helpline

Lahore, January 23, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has remodelled Health Complaint Management System (HCMS) into Emergency Helpline (0800-99000) to facilitate the Punjab Health Department in smooth delivery of healthcare services to public across Punjab. The system ensures timely resolution of complaints and complainant satisfaction. Health CMS is currently operational in over 3000 health facilities of Primary, secondary and specialized level across Punjab. Moreover, this system is implemented for vertical programs like TB, Polio, Dengue, Hepatitis, Spurious drugs etc.

Through this system, citizens queries related to various diseases such as Measles, Aids, and Thalassemia are addressed by a qualified team of doctors placed in PITB’s call center. Citizens inquiries related to Punjab Health Foundation are also answered through this system. PITBs Health CMS has proved to be a great success with an average complaint resolution over 96% and Complainant satisfaction is over 81% for the complaints received from Sept, 18 to Dec, 18. The system has achieved outstanding results in complaint resolution and satisfaction. Emergency Helpline system is also now been implemented in social security hospitals across the Punjab.

Delegation from ZhangJiaJie Municipal Tourism Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee, Human Province visit Punjab Board of Investment and Trade

Lahore, January 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): A delegation from ZhangJiaJie Municipal Tourism Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee, Hunan Province visited PBIT to seek investment opportunities in agriculture sector. The main objective was to start collaboration with the Punjab Government in Fruits and vegetables sector. PBIT shared that Government of Punjab is organizing a horticulture event on 21-22 Jan, 2019 in expo center Lahore, which is great opportunity for them to attend the event and interact with the relevant Business community for having possible collaboration. Commercial Manager of China Machinery Engineering Company visits Punjab Board of Investment and Trade
