Police raid Rao Anwar’s house, arrest his two aides

KARACHI: Police on Monday raided the house of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwar, allegedly involved in the extra-judicial killing of a Waziristan native Naqeebullah Mehsud, in Karachi and arrested two police officials.

According to police sources, two police officers stated to be closed aides of Anwar have been detained by the police. However, Anwar was not present at the raiding time, the police said.

The raid was conducted after Anwar refused to appear before the investigation team after DIG Sultan Khawaja, who is heading the team, asked him to appear at the DIG East’s office for further probe into Naqeebullah’s killing in ‘staged encounter’.

Meanwhile, Law Enforcement Agencies’ personnel apprehended a private team member of Rao Anwar, Nazmir, from Sohrab Goth. Police have started further investigation in this regard.
