1500 villages of Larkana and Khairpur hit by power outages

KHAIRPUR:Power load-shedding of 15 hours continued to hit over 1500 villages Larkana and Khairpur districts within 24 hours on daily basis amid heat wave and Ramazan, causing tremendous problems to the people.

Despite claims of Naya Pakistan by Prime Minister Imran Khan, the people of both the districts living in villages have received no relief in load shedding.

The average power load shedding upto 15 hours is being carried out in all villages of both districts. The business and social activities are badly affected due to power outages while heat has hit people hard, affecting their health.

There is no respite in power outages despite formation of Imran Khan’s government in the country, who used to make big claims during sit-ins that power load-shedding would be brought under control when he came to power.

Worst sufferers are children and old men. Hot weather keeps many people to stay homes. The load-shedding and warm weather have made the life of people miserable. There is need to bring halt in load-shedding so that people could take a sigh of relief.

Khairpur and Larkana districts also has hot climate, characterised by very hot and hazy summers. Dry heat is experienced starting April to early June until the monsoon season starts to arrive here. Monsoons are not very wet, but bring high dew points, resulting in high heat indices.

The power load shedding upto 15 hours is being carried out in all villages of 86 union councils of the Taluka Gambat that include Razi Dero Kacho, Noor Pur, Sagyoon, Ripri, Kamal Dero, Khemtia, Jadowahan and Belharo.

It seemed that there is no merciful leader, who can resolve this issue. Khairpur is native district of Syed Qaim Ali Shah, who could even not resolve this issue during his chief ministership eras. Neither Nawaz Sharif and PPP government nor PTI government could resolve this issue till today. It seems that they had no responsibility in this regard.

Imran Khan during political campaigns on containers and election drive have made big claims of resolving power outages issue, but there is not progress yet.

Khairpur district is in Sindh province’s Sukkur Division. As per the latest census, it is the fifth most populated district in the province after four districts of Karachi city, with 2.4 million inhabitants. The headquarters of the district is the city of Khairpur. The district is further divided into eight sub-districts: Khairpur Taluka, Mirwah Taluka, Kot Diji Taluka, Kingri Taluka, Sobho Dero Taluka, Gambat Taluka, Faiz Ganj Taluka and Nara Taluka. Khairpur district has 86 union councils.

There is need to provide relief to the villagers of Khairpur and Larkana districts as climate change has made these districts hotter one.
