Accused in Rimsha murder remanded for seven days

KHAIRPUR:A local court on Tuesday remanded accused Ghaffar Wassan to police custody for seven days in Rimsha murder case.

A 13-year-old girl, Rimsha was killed after being kidnapped from a village Pir Guddu near Kotdigi five days back. Later, her body was handed over to her family in the village. Kotdigi area is stronghold of former home minister Manzoor Wassan. The crime rate in the area is high.

Senior Superintendent of Police Khairpur Umer Tufail said a probe into the matter was underway and the main accused of the case, Zulfiqar Wassan, will be arrested and produced in the court soon.

Rimsha’s mother said the kidnappers handed over her daughter’s body to them after kidnapping and killing. The media is reporting that Rimsha was killed for her willingness to make a freewill marriage.

Yesterday, Sindh Assembly Monday witnessed a pandemonium after its chair refused to take up a resolution pertaining to killing of Rimsha.

Opposition lawmaker from PTI Dua Bhutto asked the deputy speaker Rehana Leghari to take up the matter for debate.
