Administration badly fails to drain out rainwater from Larkana

LARKANA: Rain has brought huge trouble to the citizens here as sanitation staff of Larkana Municipal Corporation (LMC) failed to drain out rainwater from various localities including Rasul Abad, Kausar Mill, Railway Colony, Lahori Muhalla, Rahmatpur, Bakrani Road, Gajanpur Road, Ali Gohar Abad, Ghinti Fatak, Baitul Mal Colony, Shaikh Zayed Colony, Nazar Muhalla, Latif Colony and other low lying areas.

City Mayor Aslam Shaikh supervised draining out of rainwater from posh areas including VIP road and other localities kept on waiting for the municipal staff to reach to their areas but till filing of this report, nothing was done, causing serious hardship to the citizens.

Electricity failure remained for over 20 hours throughout the district due to which even journalists failed to file their stories and many of the residents turned to solar plate markets and procured the panels.

Stagnant rainwater also caused traffic jams at various roundabouts and roads which include Jinnah Bagh, Pakistan Chowk, Bundar Road, Old Sabzi Mandi Road, Jail Road, Civil Hospital Road, Miro Khan Chowk, Bakrani Road, Shaikh Zayed Mor and other roads.

Residents, including Wasim Abro, Mansoor Kanasro, Waheed, Asif Moalano and others, said that after rains, Larkana was truly looking like the ruins of Mohenjo Daro today.

They alleged that rulers had spent huge money on Larkana development during their rule of past over ten years which had been exposed from single day’s rain. They also criticized the working of LMC and municipal committees which had done nothing to keep the city clean.
