Sialkot: The Punjab government has sought the details of wheat stock details available at all the 345 official and private godowns owned by the Food Department in Gujranwala Division’s all the six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.
According to the senior officials of the Food Department, there was a possibility that the Punjab government might issue the official wheat procurement target of purchasing 432000 tons wheat yield at the official wheat procurement centers in Gujranwala Division this year.
Officials revealed that as many as 3610000 bags of last year’s wheat yield has been lying stocked at all the 345 official and private godowns in Gujranwala Division.
The worth of this bulk wheat yield was stated to be Rs. 11.71 Billion. These bags of wheat were stated to be sold out till the final deadline of April 15, 2018, as this sale target was stated to be un-achievable in Gujranwala Division till this final deadline.
Only one month has left behind to achieve this wheat sale target here. After this final deadline, the sale of this last season’s wheat would be closed in this region, the officials added.
In Gujranwala Division, the Food Department has yet sold out 1430000 bags of last year’s wheat yield (worth of Rs. 4.66 billion) here.
This season’s official wheat procurement will be started in Gujranwala region from after the April 15,2018, as the government has fixed the wheat supporting price of Rs.1300 per mound (40 KGs) wheat here, the officials stated
