CM criticizes opposition parties meeting with PM

KARACHI:Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, giving an oblique reference of Sindh’s opposition parties meeting with prime minister said that some disappointed political souls of Sindh held a meeting with an already `panicked person’ in Islamabad and complained against him, but the `already panicked person’ urged them not to be panicked and sent them back.

“I am quite surprised that the politically rejected and despaired persons of Sindh went to seek support from that person in Islamabad who is already insecure of me that is why he is not convening CCI meetings. The CCI meeting the prime minister had convened on December 11 has also been postponed.”

This he said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of seven development projects of Rs 5.9 billion by Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari here on Saturday at Shaheed-e-Millat Road.

The chief minister said that the performance of his government had upset the night-sleeps of various rejected political people of Sindh that was why they travelled to Islamabad and met with a `panicked person’ and requested him to take action against provincial government of Sindh. “The panicked person flustered further and `in a fit of frustration’ told his group of frustrated visitors not be panicked.

Shah said that the person sitting in Islamabad was insecure of him that’s was why he was not only meeting with him during his visits to Karachi but did not convene CCI meetings because he won’t be able to face him. “He knows when Murad Shah will attend the CCI meeting he will snatch away the funds the PTI government has stopped,” he said.

“Yes, today I am giving you [the disappointed and political rejected people] to be more disappointed and panicked because I am going to inaugurate inaugurating the projects by the chairman PPP we had started in the end of our last tenure,” he said.

Addressing the leading businessmen in the inauguration programme, the chief minister said that the `panicked person’ of Islamabad was branding you as thieves though you have been contribution a lot in the national exchequer.

The person in Islamabad [PM] was learning through media that the poor people were unable to bear the burden of price hike but “being close to the people of Sindh we feel the pain they are feeling while providing square meals to their family members,” he said.

Mr Shah said that a few projects such as Green Line and Manghopir Road reconstruction were launched by the PML-N federal government but being the great claimant of Karachi neither you [PM] have not initiated a single project here not completed the projects the Nawaz government had initiated.

The chief minister said that he had conducted a Karachi Diagnostic study by the World Bank which revealed that Rs1 trillion was required to develop Karachi. “The Mayor Karachi today met me and demanded Rs2 billion for development which I gave him but simultaneously told him that the amount was peanut for this megalopolis city,” he said.

Mr Shah said that he has launched 36 schemes under Karachi mega projects and most of them have been completed. He said that Shahrah-e-Faisal was reconstructed, widened along with construction storm-water drain along with it after Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had constructed in 1970s.

Talking about development projects, the chief minister said that it was a proud moment for us to celebrate successful completion of signature projects initiated by the Sindh Government for the citizen of Karachi.

Projects inaugurated: He said that there was an exhaustive list of the projects which were recently completed. He quoted widening and improvement of Shahrah-e-Faisal, University Road from Hassan Square to Safoora Goth, Hub River Road, Madinat ul Hikmat Road, Road From Fawara Chawk to Karachi Zoo, Beautification of Cantt Railway station and improvement of Surrounding Areas, Drig Road Underpass and Munzil Pump Flyover at N5.

Mr Shah addressing Chairman Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that he pleased to announce that we have gathered here to inaugurate seven recently complete projects. They include Tariq Road Underpass for Rs. 589.9 Million, Begum Rana Liaqat Ali Flyover for Rs. 668.2 million, Re- construction of Tipu Sultan Road for Rs. 308.6, Sun Set Flyover for Rs. 460.4 million, Construction of Underpass at Submarine Chowrangi for Rs. 2,204.9. Syed Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi Road for Rs. 693.5 million. 12000 Road Korangi of Rs. 1002.0 million.

The chief minister said apart from road infrastructure, the Sindh was investing hugely in other sectors such as Water Supply and Sewerage Improvement Projects and Firefighting and Disaster management: He quoted the projects as follows:

Water Supply: Upgradation of PIPRI Filter Plant has been completed, Laying of Water Supply lines for Orangi /Baldia Town is laid, Improvement / Replacement of all water and sewerage system.

Fire Fighting and Disaster Management: He said his government has procured 104-Meter high Snorkel for Karachi, 10 Fire-fighting machines. He added that more fire tenders were in process of procurement.

On-going projects: He said that apart from already completed projects work on six on-going projects was in progress and would be completed in next financial year. They include Road 8000 Korangi (Shahrah-e- Darul Uloom), Construction of Flyover at Korangi No. 2 ½. Construction of Flyover at Korangi No. 5. Construction of Shaheed e Millat – Hyder Ali Junction Underpass. Construction of 12 different Roads around Lee Market Lyari and Saddar Town and Construction / Extension of Bridge at Orangi Nallah.

The chief minister said that Sindh was the only Province where PPP Projects have not only conceived but have also been completed on time. He added that Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas Dual Carriageway Project has started giving Sindh govt huge financial returns apart from social uplift of the region.
