LARKANA:Chandka Medical College (CMC) has been left on the verge of destruction.
This was alleged by Noor Hulio, Zulfiqar Shar and other office bearers of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University Employees Welfare Association (SHEWA) while addressing a press conference at local press club here on Sunday. They said that CMC was established 46 years ago by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and its foundation was laid by him in 1973 and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) was established in 2008 and since then billions of rupees have been allocated annually but nobody knows where the huge amount was spent. They alleged that no repair of its bungalows, quarters, departments, roads, drainage, parks etc. has been carried out since last 30 years. They said where MandR budget was used is unknown.
They said only two buses are in CMC but there is no bus in SMBBMU and it is astonishing that there is no workshop for the transport. They said that in 2016 Rs.1,25 billion rupees package was received but not half of it was spent.
They further alleged that there is no ambulance to carry the emergency patient from University campus to Chandka Hospital whereas two to 3 cars are available with each SMBBMU officer for which monthly 300 liters oil is approved from the Syndicate. They further alleged that unfortunately administrative posts are occupied since beginning by those incompetent people who are having strong political backing and support which is why corruption is at its peak in SMBBMU and that is the vital reason of University’s destruction, they added. They said if there was no budget then how new car was procured for Vice Chancellor (VC) costing Rs 0,8 million when 4 to 5 cars are already available for the VC.
They said there should be 1350 employees in the University including recent appointments but only 875 employees are running SMBBMU currently. They appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Prime Minister, Chairman NAB, Director General FIA, Sindh Government and its Health Department to take notice of the massive corruption made in SMBBMU, order thorough probe into the bungling and punish those responsible for destroying CMC and SMBBMU. They further demanded to accept our just demands or else we will be forced to enlarge scope of our protests. Munwar Mugheri, Jabbar Siyal, Afzal Mahar, Akbar Tunio and others were also present on the occasion.
