Concern over water shortage in Sindh

LARKANA: Sindh has been facing acute shortage of water and water is being taken by IRSA on the pretext of producing electricity despite the fact that water level in Tarbella and Mangla Dams has reached to dead level.

This was stated by Sindh Senior Minister for Food Nisar Ahmed Khuhro here on Sunday while addressing press conference at Larkana Press Club.

He said Sindh’s agriculture is being destroyed due to shortage of irrigation water.

He said that the claims of PML-N government about ending electricity load shedding are not true. He said the PPP will protest against shortage of water in the province.

Khuhro said that it is not true that Larkana has been converted into ruins but instead development is there in Larkana due to which value of properties here has increased.

He said the PPP is not afraid of its opponents, adding that it is not the first time that PPP has faced defeat in Punjab. He said in the past, as well as, in 1997 the PPP had also faced similar defeat in Punjab.

Khuhro said some misunderstandings of Ali Gohar Mahar will be resolved and we will be able to secure his support in favour of PPP candidate Bari Pitafi in Ghotki bye-election.

He said name of Burhan Chandio was wrongly given in the FIR in the murder case of two persons who were killed in Mehar because he was in Badin on that day due to which court has ordered to strike off his name.

He said it should be probed whether someone was involved in the fire that erupted in Sindh Secretariat previous day.
