CS seeks new system to find causes of road accidents

KARACHI:Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has advised the relevant authorities to jointly evolve a system for eradicating road accident apprehensions.

While presiding a meeting regarding reasons and causes of the road accidents on highways, Shah asked the Secretary Transport Sindh and Additional IGP Traffic and member NHA to jointly prepare a report for identification of the causes of the road accidents pointing out the main reasons like lack of arrangements for drivers i.e., traffic signs, turning points, absence of police, over loading, over speeding and various sorts of driver’s negligence, including lack of medical and ambulance service.

The Chief Secretary asked to submit comprehensive report within a couple of days. He also instructed the Secretary Transport Akhtar Ghouri to contact health department for establishment of Trauma Centre for treatment of the accidentally affectees. He advised the additional IG Traffic to ensure installing cat eyes, traffic sigh boards, shoulders on turning points, availability of ambulance service, and firefighting services in collaboration with the NHA (National Highway Authority within a week.

Earlier, the presentation was given to Chief Secretary about causes of road accidents on Indus Highway from Jamshoro to Sehwan, where many accidents had been occurred during recent three years.
