KARACHI: The patients are facing grave hardships in Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (SMBB) Institute of Trauma as two CT scan machines are lying out of order due to some technical fault for last couple of weeks.
Sources at SMBB Institute of Trauma told PPI that the CT scan machines had developed faults a couple of week ago, but these machines could still not be repaired. Score of patients needing emergency treatment are brought here every day from different areas of Karachi and rest of Sindh. The majority of them need diagnostic services such CT scan.
However, as these major diagnostic machines are not functioning, the patients are referred to private sector hospitals and private labs for CT scan that charge heavy fees. However, the SMBB Institute of Trauma offers all kind of diagnostic facilities to patients free of cost.
Chief Operating Officer (COO), SMBB Institute of Trauma, Dr Aijaz Zubedi, was not available for comments.
