Customs dept team foils heroin smuggling bid

ISLAMABAD: A Customs department team foiled a heroin smuggling bid by arresting a Canadian national, who was trying to smuggle ice-heroin abroad from Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad on Monday.

According to sources, a team of Pakistan Customs was checking the luggage of passengers, Barin, a Canadian national who was attempting to smuggle the drugs to Sharjah, UAE from Islamabad through a private airlines flight, and recovered ice-heroin worth millions from the smuggler.

The value of seized contraband has been estimated at Rs15 million. The customs official have registered a case against the accused and started further investigation.
