Demand to expedite Green Line project

Karachi:Citizens have demanded to expedite the lingering project of Green Line metro bus in Karachi.

Inordinate delay in Green Line bus rapid transit project is irking commuters as a long stretch of busy M A Jinnah Road is left dug up, causing traffic jams on nearby streets.

The Green Line is a bus rapid transit line from Sujani Town to Mereweather Tower being constructed by Sindh Infrastructure Development Company with snail pace, troubling citizens due to dug up roads, dirt and pollution and lingering traffic jams.

The federal government had started this crucial project of the megacity in February 26, 2016 at a cost of Rs15 billion. It was supposed to be completed by December, 2017, but despite this deadline is lapsed by two long years there is no ray of hope for early completion of the project.

However, due to very slow pace of work, many Karachiites do not expect that this project soon till both federal and Sindh government take serious and practical efforts to complete this lingering public transport of the megacity.
