Demo held against raid on VMPS convener’s house

KARACHI:Sindh Renaissance Forum (SRF) on Sunday held a protest demonstration against the raid on the house of convener of Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS) Sorath Lohar and Sassui Lohar by uniformed persons last night.

A group of people, including civil society members, social and political activists carrying placards and banners, gathered at KPC and chanted slogans against unlawful practice of state personnel. The protest was led by SRF leader Sarang Joyo and affected family.

Speaking on the occasion, Joyo said that carrying out raid without any warrant was an unlawful activity of state personnel, so the government should take notice against such practices.

He said peaceful citizens were being harassed by institutions, but the government seemed nothing against such acts.

Sassui Lohar said that last night uniformed person carried out a raid at her home and tried to detain her brother Sanghar Lohar, but she and her mother offered resistance on which her brother was released.

She said: “Her father Hidayat Lohar is already missing and now her brothers are being targeted.

She demanded inquiry against those involved in an unlawful activity and appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Prime Minister to help them recover her missing man Hidayat Lohar.
