Dipl: (Peace and Stability-Imperative to Prosperity in South Asia’ seminar held in Colombo)

ISLAMABAD:A seminar titled “Peace and Stability-Imperative to Prosperity in South Asia” was organized by High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Pakistan High Commissioner Major General (r) Muhammad Saad Khattak emphasized that despite tremendous potential, 16.1 percent of South Asian population is below poverty line mainly due to the chronic dispute between two major powers.

He said with the revocation of articles 370 and abolition of 35A, India has blatantly violated UN Security Council resolutions and even its own constitution.

Speaking on the occasion, Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan regretted that India, despite making local, regional and international commitments on Kashmir, is not forthcoming to click the peace call.

Sri Lankan Journalist Medha de Alwis in her remarks highlighted that all regional countries should play their part to resolve all regional issues for strengthening SAARC.
