Federal govt takes over three major hospitals of Sindh

KARACHI:Federal govt takes over three major hospitals of Sindh Federal government has taken over administrative control of three major hospitals of Sindh province that include Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), and National Institute of Child Health (NICH).

The notification issued by Federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Control said in pursuance of Supreme Court of Pakistan’s judgment dated 17/01/2019 and with the approval of federal cabinet dated 02/04/2019, three major Karachi hospitals are restored to federal government and placed under the administrative control of ministry of National Health Services, Islamabad along with its components, assets, and staff etc as indicated in the apex court decision.

The following hospitals/medical institutes, including Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and National Institute of Child Health has been handed over to the federal government again. Earlier, these three health facilities had been given to Sindh government after the 18th Amendment.

Chief Operating Officer, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Azra Maqsood, while talking to PPI, said no any official notification from the federal government had been received by NICVD management in this regard yet, however, a notification of Federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Control is available on some social media group.

President, Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association, JPMC Unit, Haq Nawaz Sial and other office-bears welcomed the federal government for taking over administrative control of three major hospitals of Karachi again.

They thanked the apex court and the federal government for restoring JPMC, NICH and NICVD to the federal government status.
