GCT all set to open 154th charitable school

KARACHI: The new 154th school project of Green Crescent Trust (GCT) housed in a purpose-built building and meant for children of underprivileged Mehran Town area of Karachi will be inaugurated on 17 July 2018 by A Sattar Akhai, Group Chairman Martin Dow Group.

The Hilal Public School, Martin Dow Campus, is part of the Martin Dow Group’s continuous commitment to community for the development of education for the children of Korangi in Karachi.

Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, VC, NED university, Prof Dr Akhtar Balouch, VC, Benazir Shaheed University, Lyari and M Jawed Akhai, Chairman Martin Dow Group?, Tariq Malik, President KATI, Zahid Saeed, CEO Green Crescent Trust? ?along with other notables ?will attend ceremony.

This will be the sixth school project of GCT in Mehran Town alone whereas in all GCT runs 153 schools purely on charitable basis in backward, remote, and rural areas of Karachi and interior Sindh.

A total of 1,430 students are enrolled in five schools of GCT in Mehran Town area alone which are being run purely on charitable basis. With addition of this sixth school, the number of students is expected to rise up to 2330. In all, 29,000 plus students are enrolled in the network of existing 153 charitable schools of GCT all over Sindh. The cluster of GCT’s schools in Mehran Town serves well the families of labourers and workers who are associated with the industries of Korangi Industrial area.
