Govt, LEAs fails to ensure law and order in Karachi: JI

KARACHI:The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi’s acting chief Barjees Ahmed Friday expressed deep concern over rising incidents of targeted killings and street crimes in Karachi in just few days and termed it a failure of the present government and law enforcing agencies (LEAs).

In a statement issued, acting Ahmed said that the target killers and street criminals had turned once again active in the city and conducted their criminal activities without any fear of arrest.

He said that the recent targeted killing of MQM’s former MNA Ali Raza Abidi and two workers of PSP had unveiled the tall claims of the government and LEAs authorities towards restoration of peace in Karachi; adding that a worker of Jamaat-e-Islami was also got injured during recent spree of lawlessness.

It is a prime responsibility of present government to restore peace and ensure safety of life and property of the common men; however, the authorities have completely failed to do so,” Ahmed added.

He further said that the some elements in LEAs are supporting the corrupt police officials in the department and the suspension of a station house officer (SHO) in his involvement in patronization of criminal elements recently is an open evidence of this. He further said that the government and authorities concerned should make the police department free from those criminal elements; adding that the authorities concerned should chalk out an effective strategy to apprehend the criminals and put them behind the bars.

Barjees Ahmed further said that the police department whenever arrest any hardcore criminals; they got themselves release from the courts due to weak formation of cases; which made by the prosecution. The JI acting Karachi Chief demanded of the government to take effective steps to ensure arrest of the target killers involve in the murder of Ali Raza Abidi and others and make the metropolis safe for the masses.
