GPS of Imam Bux Jamali village dysfunctional since past 8 years

LARKANA: A large number of male and female students of Government Primary School of village Imam Bux Jamali located in Union Council Karani, near Dokri, held a protest demonstration when they found a media team among them, near here on Wednesday.

The protest was later also joined by the villagers. Villagers Bashir Jamali, Hubdar Jamali, Mohammad Jamali and others told media that the school is dysfunctional since past eight years and its building has also become dangerous as its classrooms blocks and furniture has been broken and only one teacher is posted for over 200 male and female students who too perform his duty once in a week.

They said that nobody from the Education Department has ever bothered to visit the school to see the plight of the building and running of the school. They said the school has neither provision of electricity nor solar system has been installed which clearly indicate that corruption has ruined the entire system. They further alleged that annual SMC funds of Rs 22,000 are digested despite the fact that there are no required facilities in the school which should be thoroughly probed as to who is misusing education funds.

They said Sindh Chief Minister had imposed Education Emergency but he has never bothered to check any school in the province which prove that it was merely a political statement for point scoring and it had nothing to do with the improving the standard and quality of education, its buildings and provision of required facilities. “Merely giving free books out of taxpayers money will never bring change in the system for which drastic urgent actions are needed to save future of Sindh”, they added. They said they have been protesting and sending applications to the higher officers but all in vain.

They said our kids are have become herd-boys now as they take cattle to the lands for grazing daily in the morning instead of studying.

Teacher Maula Dad Dahar said that furniture has been taken away by the villagers and he attends the school regularly. Asked if he has made any complaint against the villagers to higher authorities he replied in negative.

Taluka Education Officer, Dokri, Zahid Hussain Soomro, confessed that allegations of the villagers are correct and undertook to post more teachers soon.
