HSC exams from 18th: Entry of unauthorized persons, mobile phones in centers banned

LARKANA:Sindh home department has banned the entry of general public at premises of examination centers of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) Part I and II across Sindh, except the candidates bearing valid admit cards as well as staff or authorized persons on duty, PPI learnt Saturday.

The restrictions under Section 144 (6) CrPC came through a notification effective from 18th April till the end of HSC examination 2019. The ban has also been imposed on carrying and using of mobile phones, tablets, iPod, laptops or other hand-held electronic devices by examinees, examiners, invigilators, inspectors, board officers, administrative officers, security personnel, support staff, auxiliary workers within the premises of examination centers.

Unauthorized persons, use of photocopier machines near examination centers, examination guides, keys and other written material used for cheating purposes have also been banned along with leakage, spreading or distribution of question paper before or during the scheduled time for such paper also stands banned.

SHOs of relevant police stations have been authorized to register complaints under Section 188 PPC in written for the violation of Section 144 Cr PC against the violators, sources told PPI.

The notification has been issued on the suggestion of the Commissioner, Sukkur Division, who had suggested multi-pronged strategy, including the above suggestions for smooth conduct of the annual examination.

Sindh Education Department faced severe criticism recently in national print and electronic media about height of mismanagement for conduct of SSC annual exams during which it failed to curb use of unfair means.
