IGP orders foolproof security for Shab-e-Barat

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Dr Syed Kaleem Imam on Friday directed police officials to ensure foolproof security and traffic flow measures in the Sindh province on the occasion of ‘Shab-e-Barat’.

According to a statement here, the IGP directed the high-ups of the police to keep a vigil and take extra-ordinary measures to prevent any untoward incident in their respective areas on the occasion of the holy event.

He asked all police officials to ensure the safety of people by deputing extra-forces at all religious places of congregations including mosques, shrines and Imambargahs while visitors at the graveyards should also be provided full security.

The police chief also directed top officials to launch a crackdown against sale and use of fireworks and firecrackers on the occasion.

Dr Kaleem instructed all the SHOs to increase patrolling and random checking in their respected areas by utilising of all intelligence resources. He also issued directives for keeping bomb disposal squads on alert.
