KMC sets up Heatstroke Relief Centres at 13 hospitals

KARACHI: Medical & Health Services Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has established 13 Heatstroke Relief Centres at KMC health facilities in Karachi.

The Heatstroke Centres have been established at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases, Sarfraz Rafiqui Shaheed Hospital, Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, Landhi Medical Centre, Spencer Eye Hospital, Landhi Cardiac Centre, Shah Faisal Cardiac Centre, Homeopathic Hospital Nazimabad, Leprosy Hospital Manghopir and others.

Senior Director Medical & Health Services, KMC, Dr Birbal Genani, while talking to PPI, said Heatstroke Relief Centres had been established in 13 major hospitals of KMC wherein ORS, drips, medicines and staff had been posted to provide first aid to the patients affected by scorching heat.

He said steps had been taken after increase in temperature level in Karachi city. He advised the citizens to adopt preventive measures including consuming more water, wear light color dresses and avoid unnecessary exposure to sun.
